As 2019 winds down, we wanted to take a moment to reflect on the impact we have had collectively on the people most in need of our services. In total, our network partners’ 442 drivers covered 110,185 miles to give 11,500 rides to 760 clients in 2019.
As you can see, volunteer drivers make a difference in Northern Virginia.
To all our volunteer drivers, you do valuable work. You allow seniors to continue living in their own homes and communities as they age. Allowing older adults to age in place increases their personal dignity and functional independence. Thank you for providing the older adults in your neighborhood with rides and companionship. Thank you for your compassion and dedication.
And now, drumroll, on to 2020. We have a suggestion (or a plea) for a New Year’s Resolution: Invite a friend to become a volunteer driver. Each of our partner organizations is in constant need of more volunteers. Help us spread the news about the important role a volunteer driver has in helping the older adults in Northern Virginia. And again, thank you for all that you do.
